Why BirdLady Blog is Now Password Protected

Hello, everyone. I wanted to share a small update about BirdLady Blog.
Going into my sixth year of grief from losing my son, I’ve been thinking a lot about what the Birdlady Blogspace means to me—and what I want it to mean going forward. I’ve decided to make the blog password protected. This isn’t a goodbye; it’s more like closing a gate that I’d like to open only for the right people. If you’d like access, please reach out through the contact form on Spatial Human. I’ll ask you just one question: what brings you here? Is it the grief? The bird photos? The silly squirrel posts? There’s no wrong answer. I just want to know you a little.I’ll share the password from there, and it will rotate monthly—a small thing, but it helps me keep this a place that feels safe and human. What I’ve come to understand is that grief, when it’s visible to everyone, can feel like people are touring a scene, a spectacle of pain—and the person grieving can start to feel like a product. I don’t want that for myself anymore. I want this to be a quiet place, tended like a garden, shared with people who understand that birds and wildlife and the long work of healing are serious and sacred things.
Thank you if you are someone who gets that.
Be safe, everybody.
